From coast to coast, Pilates has become one of the most booked workout classes in the United States, with an estimated 12.9 million participants and growing. We ranked 100 U.S. cities to find where the obsession runs deepest, and what that means for the studios serving them.

To identify which cities are the most obsessed with Pilates, we analyzed the number of Pilates studios, studios per 100,000 people, search volume, the percentage of studios offering introductory class deals, the number of studios offering intro classes, and the average drop-in class cost. These factors helped us determine which cities have the biggest Pilates fanbase, and the results offer a clear view into the strength of this trend.

Whether you're a studio owner tracking demand in your market or an instructor looking to relocate, this ranking from Acuity Scheduling shows where demand for Pilates has gained the most traction.

The top 20 Pilates obsessed cities in the U.S.

From luxury wellness destinations to beginner-friendly fitness hubs, these cities are embracing Pilates in their own way. Some stand out for the sheer number of studios. Others combine high search interest, affordable classes, or a welcoming approach to newcomers. Together, the data reveals what makes each city’s Pilates scene notable and why residents are so eager to get on the reformer.

Map of the top 20 Pilates obsessed cities in the U.S.

1. Scottsdale, Arizona

Scottsdale takes the top spot as the most Pilates-obsessed city in the U.S. Its 35.6 Pilates studios per 100,000 residents is the highest concentration in the study, and 40% of local studios offer introductory class deals. The average drop-in cost of $33 sits just slightly below the norm, too. Scottsdale’s Pilates scene fits naturally into its reputation as a luxury spa and wellness destination, where nearby high-end resorts like Canyon Ranch and CIVANA attract both health-minded tourists and locals. With options ranging from mega-resort fitness suites to boutique studios, Scottsdale gives wellness-minded residents many options to make Pilates part of their routine.

2. Miami, Florida

Scale and demand define Miami's Pilates scene. The city has 130 studios, the highest total in the study, as well as the highest Pilates search volume per 100,000 residents, suggesting that interest extends well beyond a small group of dedicated practitioners. 30% of studios offer introductory class deals, and the average drop-in costs $33.80. Miami's culture and tropical climate has long made beach workouts and outdoor activities a part of daily life, but newer wellness festivals like Wellist Week and startups like EightSleep reflect a broader shift that’s a natural fit for Pilates.

3. Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta stands out as one of the most welcoming cities for Pilates beginners, with 70% of its 111 studios offering introductory class deals. That gives newcomers plenty of opportunities to test out a class before committing to a membership or package. Once past the introductory offers, however, clients can expect to pay $33.80 per a drop-in class, on average. The city's free BeltLine fitness program saw record numbers in 2025, with 11,000 people participating in fitness classes and races, leading to expanded programs in 2026. That investment has reshaped Atlanta's fitness culture, with boutique studios opening alongside BeltLine development in neighborhoods like Old Fourth Ward, Inman Park, Virginia-Highland, and Midtown.

4. Minneapolis, Minnesota

Minneapolis is known for its outdoor lifestyle, with an extensive network of parks, lakes, trails, and bike paths, but its Pilates scene shows residents value indoor fitness, too. 80% of studios offer introductory deals (tied with Henderson for the highest share among the top cities), making Minneapolis especially beginner-friendly. Minneapolis' Scandinavian roots have already made wellness practices like sauna and cold-plunges the norm, creating an environment where Pilates fits naturally.

5. Portland, Oregon

Portland may be best known for its “keep it weird” motto and its equally quirky airport carpet, but  locals also have a reputation for an active, outdoorsy lifestyle with 158 miles of regional trails. That helps to explain why a city that only ranks as the 28th-largest in the U.S. can still offer 95 Pilates studios. And while the average drop-in costs $33.80, 70% of studios offer introductory class deals, making it easier for first-timers to try it out. But this is still Portland, a place that fully supports offbeat wellness like doom metal yoga or CBD soaks, so we’re betting it’s only a matter of time until that spirit is reflected in the local Pilates offerings.

6. Orlando, Florida

Orlando’s theme-park reputation may not scream “health and wellness,” but even Walt Disney World’s growing lineup of plant-based dining options suggest wellness has arrived. And beyond the parks, Orlando's thriving Pilates scene proves that trend is only gaining momentum. Mega resorts like the Four Seasons Resort Orlando and the Grande Lakes Orlando have regular Pilates offerings, and Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin offers Beach Yogalates, too. For locals, the city has 71 studios, and 70% offer introductory deals, making it relatively easy for newcomers to give Pilates a try.

7. Tampa, Florida

Tampa's Riverwalk has become its signature attraction, with locals biking, kayaking, and power walking down its 2.6-mile stretch, and Pilates has become a natural extension of that waterfront fitness scene. The city has 46 studios with an average drop-in cost of $33.80. But 70% of those studios offer introductory deals, suggesting that local spots are regularly rolling out the welcome mat to new clients. And thanks to being a trendy but low-impact workout, Pilates can appeal to both university students at UT and the retirees of the wider Tampa Bay region.

8. Seattle, Washington

With Mount Rainier National Park as its dramatic backdrop, Seattle lives up to its Emerald City nickname, drawing hikers and backpackers. But when that famous Pacific Northwest rain hits, local Pilates spots offer a way to take workouts indoors. And it’s relatively inexpensive to boot. Seattle offers the best value among the top 10 Pilates obsessed cities, with an average drop-in class costing just $27.60—the lowest of the group. The city also has around 100 studios, while 50% offer introductory deals, giving residents a substantial number of options without the higher price tag seen in other cities. On those sunny days, studios will sometimes take advantage, hosting outdoor classes in spots like Alki Beach.

9. San Francisco, California

As the San Francisco Standard puts it, Pilates studios “are practically part of San Francisco’s DNA.” The numbers back that up. The city has 77 studios, 60% of which offer introductory deals, and clocked more than 56,000 total Pilates-related searches as of July—the second-highest search volume in the study. San Francisco is even taking this trend into the workplace with MNT, a coworking space that also offers infrared saunas and, yes, on-site Pilates.

10. Sacramento, California

Sacramento's Pilates scene is notable for its large number of studios relative to the city's size of 536,000, with 72 locations and 60% offering introductory deals. However, at $37.80, it also has one of the highest average drop-in prices in the ranking. That combination suggests a city where Pilates has become an established boutique fitness offering with a premium price tag. It’s all part of a larger upscale wellness movement that can be spotted in Sacramento’s celebrated farm-to-fork restaurants and its elegant smoothie bars.

11. Richmond, Virginia

Richmond punches above its weight when it comes to Pilates, with 20.94 studios per 100,000 residents—one of the highest concentrations in the study. The average drop-in costs $33.80, but 70% of studios offer introductory deals, giving locals an easy entry point to try the workout. All of this pairs perfectly with Richmond’s outdoor recreation along the James River, from whitewater rafting to trail running. The Dominion Energy Riverrock festival brings all that activity to the forefront. Expect mountain biking, yoga, slacklining, and some Pilates by the lake

12. Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas may be synonymous with neon, nightlife, and casinos as far as the eye can see, but its Pilates scene reveals a growing appetite for wellness. The city has 61 studios, 60% of which offer introductory deals, and it’s generated more than 40,000 Pilates-related searches in the past year. Think of these studios as part of a party-hard counterbalance, where locals pair red-light therapy with a reformer session before another endless night out.

13. Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C., has built a strong Pilates scene around its 73 studios. Half of local studios offer introductory deals, while the average drop-in costs $37.80, tying Sacramento for the highest price among our ranked cities. But that makes sense considering this is where [solidcore] was founded, a frontrunner in the Pilates trend that grew into a premium fitness phenomenon with more than 100 studios nationwide. This modern style of Pilates is known for its intensity, which could be the perfect fit for Washington’s fast-paced workforce spanning government, nonprofits, law, and Capitol Hill.

14. Henderson, Nevada

When it comes to Pilates, Henderson can go toe-to-toe with other bigger cities like San Francisco and New York. It’s one of the most beginner-friendly Pilates cities in the country, too, with 80% of studios offering introductory deals. But this devotion to Pilates might not be a surprise to active locals, who already make the most of their 77 parks and 300+ miles of trails. A hike up River Mountains Loop paired with a mat class could be just another Sunday here.

15. Oakland, California

San Francisco might rank higher, but neighboring Oakland has built an impressive Pilates community of its own. This city has 51 Pilates studios, 70% offering introductory deals, and an average drop-in cost of $37.80. Classes here are among the more expensive on the list, but that makes sense for a city that’s dominated by independent boutiques. The studios in Oakland also put a strong emphasis on community and healing, building sanctuary spaces where clients can sip matcha and get to know each other.

16. Charlotte, North Carolina

Charlotte, a city where cold plunge pop-ups and red-light therapy have become part of the urban landscape, is undergoing a major boom in its boutique fitness scene. And plenty of those newcomers are Pilates studios. The city is home to 70 studios and reflects more than 39,000 Pilates-related searches. 70% percent of studios offer introductory deals, putting Charlotte among the more welcoming cities for first-timers, though its average drop-in price of $42.40 makes it the most expensive city in the top 20 for a single class.

17. Denver, Colorado

Denver’s inclusion on our list might not be a surprise—it’s regularly listed as one of the fittest cities in the U.S. What’s more remarkable is that between cycling, hiking, skiing, and other outdoor pursuits, active residents have found time to add Pilates to their fitness routine. The city has 55 studios and generates more than 43,000 Pilates searches, while 60% of studios offer introductory deals for curious newcomers. At an average of $30.40 per class, Denver also ranks as one of the more affordable Pilates markets in the top 20.

18. St. Petersburg, Florida

St. Petersburg proves a city doesn’t need to be one of America's biggest to have a serious Pilates following. It has just 55 studios, but when population is taken into account, that works out to 20.87 studios per 100,000 residents—one of the highest concentrations in the entire ranking. 60% of studios offer introductory deals, and classes average $33.80. It all fits in perfectly with St. Petersburg’s buzzy waterfront fitness scene. At the St. Pete Pier, you’ll find everything from dance parties and hula hooping to sunset yoga.

19. New York, New York

No city in the ranking comes close to New York when it comes to Pilates demand. The Big Apple boasts 174 studios—the most of any city analyzed—and more than 400,000 Pilates-related searches, dwarfing every other market in the study. Yet the city’s enormous population put those numbers in perspective: New York has just 2.11 studios per 100,000 residents, one of the lowest concentrations among our top 20. That may reflect a fitness culture that’s already evolving beyond Pilates, with hybrid training emerging as a hot new trend. Price could also be a factor, with only 30% of studios offering introductory deals and an average drop-in cost of $39.48.

20. Austin, Texas

Austin rounds out the top 20 most Pilates obsessed cities with a scene that reflects the city's reputation as one of the fittest in the country. Its 82 studios translate to 8.37 studios per 100,000 residents—a stronger per capita presence than larger cities like Charlotte and Denver. Demand is high, too, with nearly 60,000 Pilates-related searches, despite an average drop-in price of $41.60. Between workouts, residents can also take advantage of free ways to stay active, from the city's open-air gyms to its extensive hiking and biking trails.

Methodology

To determine the U.S. cities most obsessed with Pilates, we analyzed each of the 100 largest U.S. cities across the following metrics: the number of Pilates studios and studios per 100,000 residents, consumer interest (total Pilates search volume and volume per 100,000 residents), beginner-friendliness (the share of studios offering an intro offer, and the estimated number doing so), and price (the average group-reformer drop-in rate, treated as a premium signal where higher prices reflect stronger willingness to pay).

Studio counts came from the Google Places API using a grid search constrained to each city's limits; Search demand via Keywordtool.io; and intro availability and price from a random sample of studios per city. Each metric was min-max normalized to a 0–100 scale, weighted, and summed into a total score, with the highest-scoring city ranking as the most obsessed with Pilates.

Price was sampled for 23 cities and estimated for the rest (national median with a cost-of-living adjustment), so it carries the lowest weight (5%); note that min-max scoring rewards cities with the highest totals on any single metric.

Data is accurate as of July 16, 2026.
